Attracting talent is more than posting a job advertisement and hoping that your dream candidate applies. It involves crafting and executing a comprehensive talent recruitment strategy and having the right people to support it. Schools that have developed a cohesive strategy continue to reap the benefit of filling vacancies earlier and faster. A solid talent recruitment strategy begins with organizing your internal resources to support candidates at every step of the process. For many schools, there are too many or not enough people involved in the process. NEW YORK--A diverse group of women entrepreneurs from across all business sectors will be mentoring women entrepreneurs from underserved communities in a new City program called WE Connect Mentors, Deputy Mayor for Housing and Economic Development Alicia Glen and Department of Small Business Services Commissioner Gregg Bishop announced today. WE Connect Mentors is a first-of-its-kind initiative with 17 successful women entrepreneurs participating in the program. The 17 WE Connect Mentors represent successful New York City women business owners who will provide tailored advice through in-person meetings in all five boroughs, online chats, and blog posts. The offering is part of the broader WE NYC (Women Entrepreneurs NYC) initiative designed to expand the economic potential of women entrepreneurs. The City believes that supporting women entrepreneurs not only empowers women, but also uplifts entire families and communities.
July 1, 2015 (New York, NY) - Today, the New York City Small Business Services (SBS) celebrated the announcement of its newest cohort for the 2015 Corporate Alliance Program/NYCEO Mentorship Program. After a competitively selective process, Aquila Leon-Soon, Founder & CEO, was selected to participate as one of this year's mentees.
In order to help M/WBE-certified and small businesses grow, SBS has partnered with the world-renowned Entrepreneurs' Organization (EO) and ten corporate partners to form the Corporate Alliance Program (CAP) to develop a highly-impactful mentorship program. Some of those corporate partners include Accenture, American Express, BNY Mellon, Citi, Colgate-Palmolive and Goldman Sachs. Over the course of the 26-week mentorship program, Ms. Leon-Soon will receive business guidance and support from a successful entrepreneur. During the course of the program, participants will meet with their mentors to work on business and leadership goals, attend learning seminars on relevant business topics presented by executives from the corporate partner organizations, as well as be advised by an executive from a CAP corporate partner on specific business challenges.
